Operator ‘du’ to Make Dubai ‘Smartest City in World’
UAE-based telecom operator ‘du’ has been appointed by Smart Dubai to make Dubai the most smart and connected city in the world, according to Gulf News.
Osman Sultan, CEO of du, said: “We are proud to be appointed by Smart Dubai to help develop the infrastructure to build the smartest city in the world and we have started working on this exciting project.
“In doing so, we are not only guided by the smart city concept but also need to make the happiest city in the world as per the government’s Vision 2021.
“We are now in the middle of a technological revolution. Being connected is a basic human right. Does anyone realise how much digital content is generated in every minute?”
The initiative forms a key part of the Dubai government’s strategy to make Dubai the earth’s hub for technology, trade and development.
The appointed company, ‘du’, formerly know as the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, is one of the two telecom operators in the United Arab Emirates.
It offers fixed line, mobile telephony, internet, and digital television services across the United Arab Emirates.
