During TLME’s Future-Proof Technologies Conference held recently in Dubai, conference moderator and CEO of Vespucci Maritime, Lars Jensen, ask the panellists what they were doing to ensure the quality of the data they using for their systems.

Dr Jonathan Beard, Partner, Infrastructure Advisory, Strategy & Transactions, EY, said that data standardisation was a challenge at all levels starting from the international and national levels.

Building of trust was also critical to effective data sharing between different stakeholders and technology can play a big role making existing processes more streamlined and trusted, feels Dr Beard.

Simplified customs and clearances also “make a huge difference in facilitating trade”, says Dr Beard.

According to Dr Beard, the India growth story is one to watch out for. However, we must not expect it to be the same as China’s due the smaller size of India’s economy and smaller manufacturing base.
