BoxBay: Pushing the Envelope to Discover New Frontiers
During the third session of TLME's Future-Proof Technologies Conference held in Dubai, conference moderator Lars Jensen discussed the groundbreaking implementation of BoxBay with panellists, Dr I-ing Mathias Dobner and Patrick Bol, Global VP Port Expansion and Special Projects, DP World.
Now that BoxBay was up and running, Mr Jensen asked the panellists what were the elements of the container terminal that can be further improved?
To this, Mr Bol said that with BoxBay they had solved the container yard efficiency problem with their vertical container stacking system and improved key crane productivity by 18%.
BoxBay Proves Faster More Energy Efficient Over Conventional Terminals
Further Improving key crane productivity was the next target for BoxBay. For this, they will have to push the technological boundaries of product design and take risks tech pioneers like Elon Musk took, Mr Bol added.
Dr Dobner said that BoxBay would not have been where it is today if it had not embraced technology from outside of the ports and terminals industry.
Working on BoxBay with Mr Bol was like embarking on an exciting journey like in the early days of their careers, added Dr Dobner.
