BoxBay Easily Adaptable for Various Use Cases: Dr -Ing Mathias Dobner

The highly modular system of BoxBay gives it the flexibility of a Lego model that can be quickly and easily changed as required

While delivering his keynote speech at TLME’s Future-Proof Technologies Conference held recently in Dubai Dr -Ing. Mathias Dobner, Chairman, BoxBay, described the working of DP World’s BoxBay vertical container storage system at Jebel Ali Port’s Terminal 4.

Dr Dobner described the high-bay storage system as highly modular where, depending on the storage requirements and modes of transport, BoxBay could be easily adapted like a Lego model for various use cases.

Dr Dobner said that using BoxBay was a big step forward. Conventional container storage methods were limited by yard density and the height of the container stack. As one the stack got higher, operational efficiency sharply reduced.

The high-bay storage model of BoxBay freed up scarce land space and precious land at ports and terminals that can be used for other purposes, Dr Dobner said.

The BoxBay system could also be built within brownfield ports. With its quick modular installation, it would cause minimum disruption of port and terminal operations, he concluded.
