Red Sea Gateway Terminal Celebrates 20 Million TEUs

The Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT)achieved a major milestone, by handling its 20 millionth TEU since opening in 2009. RSGT, the key logistics hub on the Red Sea, is the largest container Terminal in Saudi Arabia.

The terminal achieved 3 million TEU in 2021, and has a projected capacity of 9 million TEU by 2030. "We celebrate as well the professionalism and dedication of the RSGT staff, upon whom our ongoing success has been built," RSGT stated on the occasion.

Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) is the newest flagship container terminal at Jeddah Islamic Port. It is spearheaded by the Saudi Industrial Services group SISCO, as well as the first privately funded BOT development project in Saudi Arabia with investment of $1.7 billion up to 2050.

RSGT is an international terminal operator representing a partnership between the Red Sea Gateway Terminal of Saudi Arabia and the Malaysian Mining Company (MMC).

The combined assets, handling capacity and experience place the terminal operations among the ten largest container terminal operators globally, with a combined annual handling capacity of 20 million TEU, and equity-weighted throughput of over 10 million TEU.

Located at the Port of Jeddah, the RSGT covers an area of 1.5 million Sqm with an annual container throughput capacity of 5.2 million TEU. RSGT is serving as an engine of growth for both local and regional economies.
