The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), in partnership with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), has held two national workshops in Jeddah and Dammam to train and upskill its team of marine inspectors and Port State Control (PSC) officials.

The workshops were organized as part of the technical cooperation between the national maritime regulator and the UN agency that seeks to maintain navigation and marine safety and safeguard a sustainable and secure flow of trade across Saudi ports.

Led by IMO experts and technical advisors, the capacity-building sessions discussed major amendments to international conventions and codes for safety and pollution prevention as well as mechanisms to implement the global body’s guidelines and regulations.

The IMO is an international standard-setting authority that specializes in creating a universal regulatory framework for a safe, secure, and environmental-friendly shipping industry.
