BoxBay Proves Faster More Energy Efficient Over Conventional Terminals
Following BoxBay Chairman Dr -Ing. Mathias Dobner’s presentation of the radical new highbay storage system at TLME’s Future-Proof Technologies Conference held recently in Dubai, conference moderator Lars Jensen asked what were the practical improvements and positive developments Dr Dobner had seen in the operations at BoxBay compared to conventional terminals?
Dr Dobner said that productivity on the quay walls has seen significant improvement. This was primarily due to better planning and improved storage and retrieval speeds within the BoxBay system.
With direct access to every box in the terminal, time calculations and planning became relatively easier on both the port side and the railway and trucking side.
Dr Dobner added that this model also reduced wear and tear along with energy costs because each container required only a single move whether it was for storage, or for retrieval.
The icing on the cake was the installation of solar panels on the roof of the terminal that helped potential customers also reduce their solar footprint while enhancing speed and efficiency, Dr Dobner concluded.
