The Pandemic was the Best Thing to Happen to Cargo and Logistics, Joe Beydoun
Speaking at the TLME Future of Logistics Conference Part 3 TLME Chairman, Joe Beydoun said the pandemic was the best thing to have happened to the cargo and logistics industry.
Mr Beydoun was replying to conference moderator Lars Jensen's question on the experiences and lessons learned from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Many players in the transport and logistics industry seized the opportunities offered by the pandemic with both hands making "millions of dollars" transporting goods like vaccines and medical supplies that were earlier a very small part of the supply chain.
Cargo aircraft that could earlier be chartered in two to three hundred thousand dollars were costing more than a million during the pandemic.
On the technological transformation of the industry Mr Beydoun said the technology was always there in development and the pandemic acted as a catalyst for applying those technologies in the transport and logistics industry.
