Speaking at the Future of Logistics Conference Part 3 held recently in Dubai, Sue Donoghue, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding's Arab Cluster said the pandemic highlighted the importance of the supply chain and logistics industry in people's day-to-day lives.

Ms Donoghue was replying to conference moderator's questions on what lessons have been learned from the experience of the recent covid pandemic.

According to Ms Donoghue, the pandemic had left scars on everybody's minds but a key part of any logistics professional's job description was managing daily risks and constant change.

When we had to change from everybody being in offices to everybody at home working, we did instantly because we had to do it and despite there not being any plan in place on how it should be done, said Ms Donoghue.

Today the logistics industry needs to come together and apply the lessons learned from the pandemic to create supply chains that are better prepared to continue effective operations even in the face of future shocks and disruptions.
