Makkah Deputy Emir Briefed on US$4.8 Billion Growth in King Abdullah Economic City
Makkah Deputy Emir, Prince Saud bin Mishaal, met with Fahad Al-Saif, chairman of Emaar, The Economic City, at the Jeddah emirate headquarters on Sunday.
During the meeting, Al-Saif highlighted recent developments in the King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), including significant progress in the industrial valley and other sectors. The city has seen unprecedented growth, with investments reaching US$4.8 billion.
Prince Saud was briefed on the logistics and industrial sectors, particularly King Abdullah Port, the second largest container-handling port in the Kingdom, with a capacity of five million standard containers. The adjacent industrial valley continues to attract both national and international companies, with 120 firms now operating in the area.
Updates were also provided on the SEZ automotive and logistics sectors. The SEZ spans an impressive 60 million square meters, making it the largest of its kind in Saudi Arabia.
Furthermore, the city’s strategic plans for the tourism and entertainment sectors were outlined, which include the development of over 30 new projects. Al-Saif also confirmed that key infrastructure projects, including a natural gas delivery system and a desalination plant, have been completed.
