WIMO, a Dubai-based, delivery logistics platform just raised $500,000 in seed funding from Dubai Angel Investors (DAI) and other regional angel invstors.

WIMO’s platform enables companies to automate their logistics operations where they can manage and track their deliveries from one place.

The startup was launched in 2017 by Wissam Abouedia and Mohamed Bahaa and is currently being used by courier companies and businesses in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

So far, WIMO has processed more than 3 million deliveries.

Wissam Aboueida, CEO of Wimo, explained the objective behind their platform stating that it was designed with 2 main objectives: easy-to-use software, and logistics automation.

“Companies from different industries face daily challenges in managing their last-mile ground teams and till date leading courier companies and retailers are relying on excel and outdated clunky and complex systems to manage their day-to-day operations,” he stated.

According to Aboueida, since last mile delivery still make up at least 30% of total revenues, WIMO will be changing that by embedding more automation, which in turn will reduce the total costs for businesses to run their logistics.

He adds they’re excited to work alongside DAI to expand their presence in Dubai and Riyadh. They also have plans to expand their engineering team to enrich their platform with better automation and enterprise capabilities. WIMO provides a low-touch plug and play solution to cater for last mile teams and perfect end-customer experiences,” Aboueida said.

“We are excited to support them in bringing the platform to further companies in the region.”

Concluded Mohamed Bahaa, CTO of Wimo: “Wimo’s latest offering Wimo Ship, launched in November 2018, brings this mission one step closer to reality.

“We are excited about the 2019 outlook as we continue to on board leading couriers and retail clients on their digital transformation roadmap, actively optimizing their customer journey and process automation.”
