The ground breaking was also witnessed by Major General Abdel Majeed Sakr, Governor of Suez, and Mr Urs Moll, Regional Director of DP World Group, and a number of officials from both SCZONE and DP World.

Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, SCZONE Chairman stated: "SCZONE aims in its strategic vision to become a regional hub for the provision of various services, especially logistics, through the establishment of logistic zones and parks and moving forward in the development work in ports and the integration of roles among them.

"This enhances SCZONE’s potential to attract global investments in the targeted industrial and service sectors.

"Logistics zones are also the smartest and most efficient solution to support supply chains globally in light of the growing demand for goods due to the current global challenges. SCZONE offers its full support to its success partners and aspires to have many similar logistic zones.”

Mr. Urs Moll said: “DP World Sokhna is pleased with its long-standing partnership with SCZONE in various projects, especially in Sokhna Port and its terminals and berths.

"We seek to provide a distinguished service, especially in light of SCZONE’s development work at the port, which allowed it to receive various types and generations of ships such as Ro-Ro ships, dry and liquid bulk ships, general cargo, and even cruise ships.

"Through the planned logistic park project, DP will provide another type of logistics service required to support supply chains and global trade. We are also proud of the continued support of SCZONE in overcoming any obstacles before they arise.

"We emphasize the concerted efforts with SCZONE to complete the first phase of the project with investments of $ 50 million by the end of 2024.”

It is planned that the operations of the first phase of the project will commence after the completion of its construction by the end of 2024.
