Majid Al Futtaim Carrefour Opens Mega Fulfillment Centre in Dubai

5000 sqm facility built in five weeks in response to increased online shopping

Majid Al Futtaim has opened the largest Carrefour online fulfillment centre in Dubai’s Al Garhoud area. The centre will provide quick and efficient logististics for delivery of products to online shoppers across the emirate.

The inauguration was attended by HE Omar Al Olama, Minister for State of Digital Economy, Artificial Intelligence and Remote Work Applications; Alain Bejjani, CEO, Majid Al Futtaim Holding; Hani Weiss, CEO, Majid Al Futtaim—Retail, and representatives from Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management.

Close to Dubai International Airport, the Al Garhoud fulfillment centre covers an area of 5,000 sq metres and was constructed within a span of 5 weeks in response to the exponential growth of online shopping following the pandemic.

It can handle up to 3,000 orders a day - upscalable to 5000 per day - and has a staff of 250.

“We had an ambitious plan to scale up our e-grocery business this year, but at the height of the pandemic we found ourselves implementing what was initially conceived as a 12-month strategy in just 12 days,” remarked Weiss.

The Al Garhoud fulfillment centre is the tenth and largest opened by Majid Al Futtaim and Carrefour.
