Amazon has announced that it plans to create 1,500 direct and indirect jobs in the United Arab Emirates this year as it expands its customer base and operations in the Middle East, according to a Reuters report.

The bulk of the jobs created will come from Amazon's delivery and warehousng operations. The number of direct recruitments, however, was not indicated in the company's statement.

"Amazon will open four new delivery stations, boosting last-mile capabilities to speed up deliveries and reach more customers", the statement said.

Adding: "The expansion also creates additional jobs through its sellers and delivery partners."

Amazon had also, earlier this year, announced that its cloud service unit, Amazon Web Services, will launch three data centres in the first half of 2022 in the UAE.
