World’s Top 10 Airlines Announced

Emirates makes big move in new rankings

Singapore Airlines has secured first place at the annual World Airline Awards, for the first time since 2008, while Emirates has come in at fourth place.

The World Airline Awards was created twenty years ago and is seen as ‘The Oscars of the aviation world’.

The rankings are devised by Skytrax, which states that around 20 million people were interviewed for the survey.

Emirates has performed exceptionally well in the history of the World Airline Awards, scooping the number one spot in 2001, 2002, 2013 and 2016.

The Top 10 is as follows:

  1. Singapore Airlines
  2. Qatar Airways
  3. ANA Al Nippon Airways
  4. Emirates
  5. EVA Air
  6. Cathay Pacific Airways
  7. Lufthansa
  8. Hainan Airlines
  9. Garuda Indonesia
  10. Thai Airways

The air transport sector has gone from strength to strength recently, as well as a number of new powerful players, Boeing has predicted the global market will be worth around US$6.3 trillion by 2037.

The US-based air transport giant also predicted huge increases in cargo and passenger traffic.
