Over 1.3 Million Passengers Cross Dubai Ports during Eid al-Fitr

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA) has revealed that the total number of entry and residence permits transactions during the Eid al-Fitr holiday reached 253 thousand transactions between May 30, 2019 and June 8, 2019.

More than 1.3 million passengers travelled through air, sea and land ports in all the ports in Dubai during the same period.

A total number of 1.175 million passengers pass through Dubai airports, while 113 thousand passengers pass through the land port, and the number of passengers pass through the seaport reached 14,460 passengers.

June 8 set the highest number of travelers passed through Hatta port, with 16,803 passengers.

Furthermore, 352,306 passengers used the 122 smart gates at the Dubai airports during the same period, which has contributed to the clearance of passenger procedures and facilitate transit through Dubai airports.

The increase in the number of smart gates users during the last period indicates that the people are aware to use smart services provided by GDRFA Dubai at Dubai airports, which is constantly providing the latest smart services for the passengers.

HE Major General Mohammed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai inspected the arrivals and departures halls of the Dubai International Airport buildings during a visit. He also reviewed the preparations of passport control officers at the Dubai Airports.

A team of the contact center "Amer" continued to follow up its work to receive calls from customers during Eid al-Fitr holiday, where the center received 12,500 call during the holiday period. About 320 Emirati passports renewed during Eid holiday.

Major General Al Marri said: "GDRFA Dubai is keen to develop integrated work mechanisms according to the best international studies and practices to facilitate the movement of passengers through Dubai ports, and take all security measures to ensure their safety, especially in line with increasing number of the passengers passing through the airport during the public holidays.”

The employees and travelers expressed their happiness by congratulating HE Al Marri and for his interest to stand in person to inspect the progress of the work.
