Low-cost Indian airline SpiceJet is to set up a base in Ras Al Khaimah, an emirate in the north of the UAE.
According to reports, an agreement has been struck for the hub to be operational by 2020.
The stated goal of the new hub is to increase traffic and routes between Asia and Europe.

In a statement, Spicejet stated that it saw “tremendous potential” in the UAE, which offers freedom from heavy congestion and a dynamic region for supply chain-based companies.
Ras Al Khaimah also offers SpiceJet the ability to fly non-stop to key regions in Europe, thereby boosting the attractiveness to customers.
