Hamad, Ruwais, and Doha ports recorded impressive performance in July 2024, with a notable increase in container handling. The ports managed 146,752 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containers, marking a 46% rise compared to the same month in 2023.

This growth is largely attributed to a remarkable 132% increase in transshipments. Additionally, there were significant rises in the handling of livestock, RORO (roll-on/roll-off), and vessels, which surged by 271%, 102 %, and 4% respectively.

In July 2024, general and bulk cargo handled through the three ports totalled 131,982 tonnes. The ports also received 235 vessels, with the containers, RORO, livestock, and building materials accounting for 12,214 units, 20,302 heads, and 22,204 tonnes respectively.

For the first half of 2024 (January to June), the ports handled 706,983 TEUs, reflecting a 12% increase over the previous year. This growth was bolstered by a 24% rise in transshipment at Hamad Port, and a 39% increase in RORO units and 22% in livestock.
