IATA Unveils New Hub for Aviation Safety and Compliance

IATA Connect is a secure platform for aviation safety, security, compliance, and operations experts from airlines, regulatory agencies, and auditors.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has launched IATA Connect, a secure community for aviation safety, security, compliance, and operations experts at airlines, regulatory agencies, and auditors. Its introduction directly addresses the rising challenges faced by safety professionals in managing compliance documentation.

As operations expand and regulatory demands grow, the platform is expected to significantly enhance efficiency by enabling a centralised exchange of audit information. According to IATA, the platform aims to improve collaboration between commercial and outsourcing partners in increasingly complex operational environments.

The initial focus will be on the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). Community members, including regulators, IOSA-registered airlines, and auditors, will have access to the platform to securely exchange safety documentation, share information, and collaborate to further enhance aviation safety.

In addition to the IOSA Registry, IATA Connect will house a private documentation repository with analytical and benchmarking capabilities. The repository contains IOSA audit reports, industry standards, guidance materials, 440 airline profiles, and news sources. Over 2,300 aviation safety professionals have been invited to join the community.

Willie Walsh, IATA’s Director General, stated: “IATA Connect will provide aviation safety and compliance professionals in government and the industry with a means to make flying even safer by facilitating real-time collaboration.

"Whether it’s sharing an IOSA audit report, responding to a compliance questionnaire, updating information on codeshare partners, benchmarking resources, or information gathering, IATA Connect will bring new efficiencies and greater capabilities.

By collecting critical IOSA audit data in a single location, keeping it updated, and making the mechanics of information exchange easier, IATA Connect will be a compelling tool for everyone involved in aviation safety compliance and oversight."

IATA Connect will also be available as a mobile app, initially offering two key safety tools. Safety Connect is a secure forum for operational groups like cabin and cargo operations. The Safety Issue Hub will provide information on hazards and safety risks to guide safety improvement programmes.

With time, IATA aims for IATA Connect to expand its capabilities, becoming a one-stop solution for aviation safety professionals.
