Federal Express Corporation, the world’s largest express transportation company, has upgraded its FedEx® Delivery Manager International (FDMi) e-commerce solution with delivery notifications via WhatsApp. This service is now available to package recipients in Saudi Arabia in both English and Arabic.

FDMi is an interactive e-commerce delivery service offering customizable delivery options and alerts. It allows e-tailers to provide their customers with flexible delivery timing and location options, including the ability to change the delivery address while the shipment is in transit, at no additional cost.

Abdulrahman Al-Mubarak, managing director of FedEx Middle East operations, stated: “The FDMi service enhancement facilitates interactive communication for package recipients, providing them with updates from pickup to delivery. This enhancement underscores our continuous efforts to streamline and simplify the last-mile delivery process, ensuring convenience for consumers.”

Recipients expecting deliveries will receive a WhatsApp notification from FedEx upon shipment pickup. The company uses a META-verified WhatsApp business account, which helps mitigate online risks such as scams involving the FedEx brand. Recipients can chat with FedEx directly in their preferred language, access tracking information, and adjust delivery options within the WhatsApp chat.

In a competitive online marketplace, the integration of WhatsApp into FDMi offers e-tailers, especially SMEs, an enhanced service for their customers. It helps FedEx minimize unsuccessful delivery attempts and enhances the online shopping experience.
