The operator of Dubai International Airport, one of the world's busiest airports and the hub of Emirates airline, announced on Friday that the airport was operating normally again after a global system outage affected the check-in process of some airlines.

Dubai Airports stated that the outage had impacted several airlines operating from Terminals 1 and 2. However, the check-in process was quickly switched to an alternative system, allowing normal operations to resume swiftly.

Flydubai, which operates out of Terminal 2, reported that its operations were not affected by the outage. Emirates, operating out of Terminal 3, confirmed that there was no impact on its flight operations. However, Emirates cautioned that there might be some delays later due to the knock-on effect from delayed departures at other airports.

Etihad Airways, operating from Abu Dhabi's Zayed International Airport, also reported normal operations. However, it warned that limited delays could occur across its network due to the global outage.

On Friday, carriers, media companies, banks, and telecoms firms around the world reported disruptions to their operations due to system outages. This widespread issue highlights the vulnerability of global systems and the interconnected nature of modern industries.

The swift response of Dubai Airports in switching to an alternative system demonstrates the importance of having robust contingency plans in place. This incident underscores the critical need for resilience in airport operations and the aviation industry at large.

Passengers travelling through Dubai International Airport are advised to check with their respective airlines for the latest updates on flight schedules. The airport operator remains committed to ensuring minimal disruption and maintaining efficient operations despite unforeseen challenges.

As global travel continues to rebound, the efficient handling of such disruptions is crucial in maintaining passenger confidence and the smooth functioning of international air travel. Dubai International Airport's rapid recovery from this outage serves as a testament to its preparedness and operational efficiency.
