DP World has confirmed it is to build a hyperloop in India, with Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem announcing the news at the World Government Summit in Dubai.

DP World believe a hyperloop in India is vital as it will ease the country’s much-congested cargo trade.

Virgin Hyperloop One originally signed an agreement with DP World in February 2018 for a hyperloop between Pune and Mumbai, India.

Sultan bin Sulayem said DP: "The first project will be in India, we signed an agreement and we are looking at how to test the project.

"We have a team in India that is working very hard, we're working with our office here and in Los Angeles, but we are not wasting our time.

“The technology we brought into the company has improved 10 times. Whenever I meet with them I see something new."
