The UAE’s latest multimillion dollar road project, the Maliha-Khor Fakkan road, is slated to be completed in the second quarter of 2019, according to reports.

The new is set to conjoin Sheikh Khalifa and the E99 road with the Khor-Fakkan western road.

Ahmad Al Hammadi, Director of the Roads Department in the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, said: "The road will better connect the cities of the eastern coast and give shorter access to the other roads of the country.

"The four-lane road, two in each direction, passes through tough mountains and includes a 360-metre tunnel.

“The road will cut the trip time by more than 40%.

"When completed, the project will ease the traffic movement of light vehicles and trucks, and reduce costs and trip time."
