Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), announced that RTA’s digital revenues for 2023 saw a significant growth of 16.8%, reaching AED3.705 billion (US$1 billion) compared to the previous year.
The number of digital transactions conducted through RTA’s platforms increased to 821 million, reflecting a 1% rise from 2022. Notably, transactions via smart apps surged by 29%, totalling 15.299 million.
The real-time happiness indicator for RTA’s apps exceeded 95%, showing a 2% improvement from the prior year. “In 2023, the number of registered users on RTA’s digital channels reached 1.404 million, reflecting a 20% increase compared to 2022. RTA’s apps were downloaded 3.056 million times,” stated Al Tayer.
As part of its roadmap to enhance services, RTA launched an upgraded Mahboob Chatbot, powered by ChatGPT, which offers advanced, human-like responses and improved data protection. The RTA also introduced next-generation smart kiosks, which are faster and more efficient.
A redesigned customer experience was implemented for 42 services, with a monitoring system ensuring service quality. These kiosks, deployed across 21 locations, generated revenues of over AED309 million in 2023, a 12% increase from 2022.
RTA also introduced an updated version of its RTA Dubai app, integrating an AI-powered parking prediction feature covering 190,000 locations, and an NFC-based nol top-up service that allows balance updates without visiting stations. The Dubai Drive app was also enhanced with vehicle plate transfer services, reducing the need for service centre visits.
The S’hail app received updates offering new services, including bicycle and e-scooter lane activation, taxi stand locations, and event information in collaboration with the Department of Economy and Tourism. The app also introduced a QR code for journey planning, with 18 million journeys planned via the app in 2023.
RTA activated 63 new services in 2023 as part of its 360 Services initiative, including fine payments, marine transport rentals, and commercial shop rentals. The "Invest with RTA" platform was developed, allowing investors to review current contracts.
Through the Dubai Now app, RTA introduced services under the "City Experiences" initiative, including the Vehicle Driving and Vehicle Registration Renewal Experiences.
It also integrated private insurance services to provide a comprehensive experience for users. Eleven additional services were launched within the Emirati Package under the Higher Committee for Development and Citizens Affairs, as part of the 360 Services plan.
