MSC Paris has made history by transporting eight containers filled with electronics, cleaning supplies, iron and firefighting equipment loaded from Dubai’s Jebel Ali Port to Haifa.
On 12th October Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a speech in Parliament: “Today a cargo ship came from Dubai with goods. Goods that by the way are very cheap and will benefit Israelis."
Israeli officials have estimated bilateral trade could reach as much as $4 billion a year and most of the goods will be transported by sea.
The Chairman of Haifa Port expects that container movements between the UAE and Israel to soon begin on a weekly basis, following the normalisation of trade ties.
