Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT), the preferred gateway for the Levant region and beyond, recently announced the appointment of Soren Kofoed Jensen as the company’s new chief executive officer, following on from the previous incumbent, Steven Yoogalingam.
Mr. Jensen started his career with the Maersk Group in 2001 rising quickly to work in various leadership positions across several businesses, sectors and geographies over the course of 20 years.
His diverse experience, which includes sales management, business development, operations and procurement in Copenhagen, Hong Kong, Houston, Shanghai and Hague, has tremendously contributed to his leadership and skills.
In 2018, Mr. Jensen joined APM Terminals as the Chief Procurement Officer for the company’s global operations. In the past four years, under Yoogalingam’s direction, ACT has experienced significant progress in line with its dedication to continually develop the terminal.
In the last year alone, the terminal has greatly enhanced operational efficiency and productivity, with the addition of advanced technology to ACT’s operating system, as well as customized state-of-the-art equipment.
Furthermore, ACT has continued to demonstrate its ability to receive some of the largest ships in the world - up to 15,072 TEU - and develop new relations with international trade partners.
Mr Jensen said: “I’m eager to take on this new challenge and I look forward to the opportunity to contribute towards enhancing ACT’s position as the gateway of choice to the Levant region and beyond.
"I also look forward to working closely with my fellow team members and reaching the new milestones that lay ahead for ACT and its stakeholders.”
