8000 Kgs of Cocaine Found Inside Maersk Container at Port of Rotterdam

According to officials it is a record recovery for the Dutch port

According to Dutch prosecutors, customs officials based in Rotterdam have reportedly seized a shipment of over 8,000 kgs of cocaine neatly concealed in a container loaded with bananas.

The cargo was on board a Maersk container that arrived at port via the Panama Canal from Ecuador. According to a report by Danish publication Splash, Maersk has confirmed the find which has a street value of over $650 million.

During a routine check by customs and security officials the drugs were found by sniffer dogs and container scans.

This is a record drug cargo bust at the port of Rotterdam.
