Uniformity in Customs Clearance Would be a Big Game Changer for the Logistics Industry

TLME News Service

During discussions in the first session of TLME’s Future-Proof Technologies Conference held recently in Dubai, conference moderator and CEO & Partner at Vespucci Maritime, Lars Jensen, ask the panellists what they were doing to ensure the quality of the data they using for their systems, particularly in the Middle East where digitalising was growing rapidly.

Mary Oxley, VP Marketing & Sales MEA, DHL Global Forwarding, said that setting data standards was the key and all stakeholders needed to work together in single ecosystem.

The biggest challenge to creating this ecosystem was the diversity in customs requirements of different countries.

Uniformity and standardisation of customs processes and requirements across the world would be a big game changer for the logistics industry.

DHL has been working closely with the UAE government and some companies to digitalise and simplify customs processes, said Ms Oxley.
