The third edition of the TLME Future of Logistics Conference concluded last week in Dubai at the Ritz Carlton DIFC with leading industry thought-leader Lars Jensen moderating the lively sessions throughout the day.

The event began with industry experts discussing the current state of play in the transport and logisctics industry. Speakers included:

  • Farooq Shaikh - CEO, LogiPoint

  • Sue Donoghue - CEO, Arab Cluster, DHL

  • Joe Beydoun - Chairman, Transport & Logistics M.E.

  • Alexandros Komianos - Chief Fulfillment & Logistics Officer, Chalhoub Group

  • Robbert Sutton - VP Freezones, Cargo & Logistics, Abu Dhabi Airports

The second session of conference explored the potential and future of digital logistics. Experts in automation and technology discussed a world that is arriving sooner than we thought. Speakers included:

  • Sue Donoghue - CEO, Arab Cluster, DHL

  • Joe Beydoun - Chairman, Transport & Logistics M.E.

  • Drew Hall - CEO, GenFlat Containers

The Air Transport and Cargo session began with Lars Jensen, discussing with the panellists if air freight operations have returned to "normal" after the turbulence of the last three years and moving forward how do we achieve growth by following environmentally sustainable practices. Speakers:

  • Fabio Weiss, VP, Head of Air Freight MEA at DHL Global Forwarding

  • Robert Sutton, Senior Vice President Freezone, Cargo & Logistics, Abu Dhabi Airports

  • Mazen Al Homsi, Director Of Sales, Digital Cargo

  • Hassan Jamaleddine, Director of Supply Chain, NewBridge Pharmaceuticals

Fourth session examined the near future of logistics and discussed what are the three big things that will change the industry over the next 5 to 10 years? Speakers included:

  • Drew Hall - CEO, GenFlat Containers

  • Vjeren Ortynski -  VP, Business Development for CargoX

  • Mark Chavez - Siemens Logistics

Mr Jensen concluded the conference by highlighting that "the largest risk" to the industry today is on the people side. If we don't have talented people coming into the industry, it will create severe problems in the future.

Therefore, most imminent issue that needs to be addressed is how does the industry attract talented youth?
