Speaking at TLME's Future of Logistics Conference Part 3 Robert Sutton, Sr VP, Freezone, Cargo & Logistics at Abu Dhabi Airports, said the new normal in supply chains today comprises of enhanced predictability and adaptability with a focus on end-to-end reliability using multiple modes of cargo transport.

The solutions available today are not very different from those available 10 years ago however, behaviours have radically changed. "One thing the pandemic did was change mindsets by driving levels of collaboration that the industry had never seen before," said Mr Sutton.

He further added that customer considerations today have moved beyond just rates and today they are more focussed on overall balance sheets, sustainability and procurement strategies to create supply chains that can be more predictive.

Lessons learnt from the pandemic have created a much more forward-looking supply chain industry, concluded Mr Sutton.
