Discussing the state of play in the industry today at the TLME Future of Logistics Conference Part 3 held recently in Dubai, Sue Donoghue, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding Arab Cluster, said the only constant in supply chain operations was change, meaning that the logistics industry had to be resilient to successfully meet new challenges.

Ms Donoghue was replying to a question by conference moderator Lars Jensen who asking if things were getting back to normal in the supply chain or has the "normal" changed?

We have come out of the pandemic but now we have a world where there is war and uncertainty.

Every generation had to face its own set of challenges and the logistics industry exists because of these challenges and uncertainties across supply chains have to be successfully met.

Ms Donghue said that things were returning back to a "new normal" particularly in Saudi Arabia, which was seeing a major increase industrial production.

As far as air freight and ocean freight rates were concerned, they were returning to pre-pandemic levels and we are seeing greater diversification in the range of cargo carried and growth in trade, concluded Ms Donoghue.
