Speaking at the TLME Future of Logistics Conference Part 3 held recently in Dubai, Alexandros Komianos Chief Fulfilment and Logistics Officer, Chalhoub Group, said that customers today, were much more interested in business continuity plans than earlier, before the pandemic.
Replying to conference moderator Lars Jensen's question if things were back to normal, Komianos said that today we have a "new normal".
To ensure reliability of logistics services in the face of disruptions, choosing the right partner has become a key focus area. Earlier, speed and cost of service were major considerations but now it is the reliability and resilience of logistics services.
As a retailer, the Chalhoub Group is driven by demand and consumer behaviour and "this has changed massively", said Komianos. Almost overnight the group's e-commerce business has exploded, and processes and systems have had to adapt rapidly to new demands.
