Like many other industry leaders we have spoken with so far, Dr Raman Kumar, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Logistics describes the main challenges of the pandemic as health and safety of associates and adapting operations to meet changing situations and customer expectations.
Building confidence in associates to go out in the field and understand customer requirements while following covid appropriate behaviour was another focus point of Al-Futtaim Logistics' pandemic response.
Al-Futtaim Logistics has created an "internal bio-bubble" within the company to overcome the challenge of maintaining business continuity while sticking to the highest levels of safety.
According to Dr Raman Kumar, the pandemic has also thrown up opportunities to automate and digitalise. Al-Futtaim Logistics has rolled out a number of digital initiatives like their Yard Management System for better automotive logistics operations.
The company has also deployed new technologies in their systems for contract logistics, general transport and last-mile deliveries.
Dr Kumar asserts that technology has increased the transparency of the entire supply chain and enabled logistics companies to achieve record delivery times.
At the same time it has opened up new opportunities in warehousing and e-commerce fulfilment.
During the pandemic Al-Futtaim Logistics has seamlessly integrated technology solutions into its day-to-day operations to achieve greater levels of efficiency and customer satisfaction.
