Vaccine Distribution to be a Major Challenge for Air Cargo

Etihad Cargo’s Fabrice Panza outlines the challenges and solutions for the supply chain this year

Talking about the major challenges facing the supply chain today Fabrice Panza, Manager Global Cool Chain Solutions, Etihad Cargo said that vaccine distribution is going to be a big upcoming challenge.

With COVAX anticipating a requirement of 22 billion vaccines this year, even if 50% are to be distributed by air, Mr Panza felt it’s going to be a big challenge for the carriers.

Mr Panza adds that collaboration has long been talked about in the industry but the challenges of the pandemic have brought about a real change on the ground with various players now working more closely than ever before.

Mr Panza said that digitalisation had also got a major boost in the last two years with quick adoption of digitalisation, better use of data and greater collaboration with technology partners.

Moving forward Mr Panza advised clear communications between various parts of the supply chain that would allow everybody to set the right expectations for the future.
