Mohammed bin Rashid visits Dubai South Aviation District  

Commends the progress of Dubai Aviation City’s project there

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, commended the progress of the Dubai Aviation City’s project in Dubai South, which is to cover, upon completion, an area 145 square kilometers, near EXPO 2020 site.

During a visit to the project, Sheikh Mohammed praised the efforts of Dubai Airports and Dubai World Central’s staff, which oversee the development of this project that sets the gold standard for the civil aviation industry and will put the UAE among the leading countries in the world in this high tech industry.

His Highness congratulated staff of Dubai Airports and Dubai World Central, headed by Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chief Executive of Emirates Group, Chairman of Dubai Airports, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, for his dedication and follow up of the execution of the project.

His Highness also highlighted the importance of the aviation industry in enhancing the national economy, adding that the aviation industry is key for the economic prosperity.

His Highness toured the Al Maktoum Airport, and expressed his impression with the airport’s facilities.

His Highness was accompanied by Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chief Executive of Emirates Group His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and H.H. Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Director- General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai H.E. Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, and Executive Chairman, Dubai Aviation City Corporation Khalifa Suhail Al Zaffin, along a number of senior officials, were also present during the visit.

He expressed his admiration for the modern building, which is the first of its kind in the world and is equipped to provide comfort and entertainment to passengers of private aeroplanes.

Sheikh Mohammed also unveiled the curtains from two five-star classification plaques that were awarded to two centres run by the Jetex Company for Private Aviation Services in Dubai and in the Paris–Le Bourget Airport, following their evaluation according to the global star rating system that was launched by the UAE Government.

The Jetex Centre in Paris is the first to receive the five-star rating outside the UAE, which could lead to the system’s adoption by more leading private sector companies both inside and outside the country.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied during the tour by several Sheikhs, officials and engineers from Dubai World Central.
