The Hope Consortium won the first Special Recognition award of the evening at the TLME Heroes of the Pandemic Awards 2021 hosted by well-known TV news presenter Katie Jensen.

The Hero of the Pandemic Award - Global Vaccine Distribution Initiative Award was presented by celebrity and 2x World Champion Boxer Amir Khan to key members of the Hope Consortium.

The Hope Consortium is Abu Dhabi’s commitment to the global battle against the COVID-19 pandemic and is led by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, Etihad Cargo, Abu Dhabi Ports, Rafed, Maqta Gateway and Sky Cell.

"People have put aside competition in favour of collaboration to achieve one thing, which is global vaccination," said Mr Sutton.

"The logistics sector, in particular, has changed dramatically. Sourcing has changed. People have looked to in source, near source and not just rely on overseas sources as supply chains got disrupted. I think that will continue for some time and I think people will take a long look at their business now in terms of resilience and partnerships," concludes Mr Sutton.

This award recognizes the initiative taken by these leading players of the industry that have combined their specialist skills into a single powerful and cohesive call to action that is helping to get billions of vaccines into people’s arms.

Addressing the gathering after accepting the Award Mr Bader Al Ali, Senior Commercial Manager at Etihad Cargo said: "It's our pleasure being part of a great alliance. This alliance represents the vision of the UAE as one nation. We thank our partners for their support and all the great work that we have done together."
