Dubai RTA Plan to Enhance Dubai’s Roads

New plan part of HH Sheikh Mohammed’s vision

In line with the five-year plan adopted by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, an award has been made for the contract of internal roads in the Khawaneej area of Dubai.

The new 77 km road is part of the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority’s (RTA) mission to create a bold new infrastructure for the emirate.

Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Dubai RTA, HE Mattar Al Tayer, said: "[The] Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is keen to develop and improve the basic infrastructure of roads, lighting and rainwater drainage in the residential areas to meet the needs of population expansion and urbanization in the emirate and to achieve happiness and well-being of the population."

HE Mattar Al Tayer added that the new project includes the implementation of a network of single roads with a length of 68km, and double compound roads of about nine kilometers.

The Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors explained that work is under way to implement the internal roads of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Project in the Oud Al-Mutaina area 1, for a length of about seven kilometers, and to connect them with the surrounding road network and secure safe and easy entry and exit for road users from and to neighboring areas.

The project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2019.
