World-leading research company Gartner stated that shipments of enterprise drones are set to grow by 50% in 2020, according to new research.
Drones are thus set to become a huge element of the future logistics chain, with a myriad of sectors looking into using them on a regular basis.
Ultimately, Gartner expects the figures to rise to 1.27 million drones delivered by 2023.
At present, the construction sector seems to be the biggest early adopter.
Kay Sharpington, a principal analyst at Gartner, said: “The construction sector is an early adopter of drones, which causes construction monitoring to be the largest use case by shipments worldwide across the forecast.
“Drones are taking over tasks such as site surveying and earthworks management as they are faster and safer to carry out with a drone than on foot.”
